About

What are Heart Songs?

Heart Songs are a form of intuitive vocal expression rooted in the understanding that sound, rhythm and movement are among our oldest and most natural ways of expressing and communicating.

This practice also brings us into relationship with everything we have been taught about our voices: that we are too loud, cannot sing, should remain quiet or must sound a certain way to be heard.

By meeting these stories without judgement, we can begin to release shame, reclaim our voices and rediscover our capacity for honest self-expression.

Heart Song Healing is not about learning to sing perfectly. It is about creating space to listen inwardly, to hold space for ourselves non-judgementally, to express freely and remember the songs that already live within us.

About Lee Gayle – Creator, educator and facilitator of Heart Song Healing.

“My journey with Heart Songs began through my own longing for a language beyond words.

While spending time with various indigenous communities around the world, I was deeply moved by the relationship many of them held with sound, song, rhyth and dance. I saw how voice and movement could become prayer, story, release, remembrance, celebration and connection. It awakened something in me – a longing to play, explore, and to listen more deeply to the language of sound.

I began to feel how limiting words could sometimes be. There were emotions in me that could not be neatly explained. Grief, tenderness, joy, fear, longing, strength – all moving beneath the surface, asking to be heard in a different way. Sound became a doorway. A way to express the raw emotions we carry. A way to tell stories that words could never fully hold.

Through this practice, I began to understand that our voices carry so much more than melody. They carry memory, emotion, instinct, truth, courage and connection. They can help us reach the parts of ourselves we may have shamed, silenced or abandoned, and welcome them home with compassion.

Creating Heart Songs helped me rebuild my relationship with myself. It taught me how to listen inwardly, how to hold loving space for my own expression, and how to let my voice become a place of safety rather than performance.

Heart Song Healing grew from this personal exploration into a gentle body of work that brings together intuitive voice, medicine music, movement, nervous system awareness, creative practice, and trauma-informed care.

At its heart is a simple belief: every person deserves a space where their expression is welcomed exactly as it is – without being judged, corrected, rushed or made smaller.

My role is not to tell you what your song should sound like. It is to sit beside you with steadiness and care, and to create a compassionate space where you can listen, soften, express, remember and explore the blessing that is your voice! “
